2nd Slalom weekend at the lake

It starts again.

After the successful launch event in 2023, Saturday, 4 and Sunday, 5 May The 2nd Slalom Weekend in East Hesse took place at the lake.

The MSC Fulda and the AC-Schlitz are once again working together around the lake in Pfordt. It will be interesting to see whether last year's winner from Saturday, Daniel Habicht, MSC Schlüchtern/AC Lauterbach, can repeat his success, or whether he will have to admit defeat to the strong competition. Because they have certainly registered, as can be seen in the current list of participants, including a Porsche 911GT3RS from Stefan Boden. The local heroes Mark Steffen Kemmler/Schlitz, as well as the car-loving Schuhej family from the MSC, with father Jörg, son Marcel and - the fastest lady in 2023 - Jeannette Schuhej, are also at the start again.

The ACS is represented by Michael Rausch's famous yellow Opel Ascona, which is driven by Stefan Göbel.

The starter flag will be lowered for Group G at around 9 a.m. on both days to begin the hunt for the pylons for points and trophies. For this purpose, the county road between Fraurombach and Pfordt will be closed on Friday May 3rd from around 4 p.m. to Sunday May 5th around 8 p.m. There will also be disruptions on the cycle path between Fulda and Schlitzer Land. However, the diversions are well signposted. In Pfordt, parking spaces have been set up to the right of the Fulda bridge and, with free entry on both days, the designated spectator areas with a good view of the route and the finish line are easy to reach. Of course, food and drink will be provided throughout the entire event.

Latest traffic law news from ACS

The ACS invites you to its routine traffic information evening for

Friday, March 15th, at 7.30 p.m. in the clubhouse, Auf der Zinn 18, a.

Trends are constantly changing society and the way we interact with each other. This also applies to how we behave in traffic. Accordingly, laws must be adapted to the changed conditions. In an informal setting, experts provide information on the latest developments. For example, what rights and obligations do the increasingly common scooters have? How does the environment and climate protection affect current case law?

What distances and speeds must be observed for the garbage trucks in use? The necessary information will be given on these and other socio-political topics, from all areas of traffic law and traffic criminal law. As usual, admission is free. Guests are very welcome to this evening.

ACS starts the season with a winter hike

On the “Bach Tour” along the Lauter to Eisenbach Castle

Schlitz. With this year's winter hike, the AC-Schlitz opens on Saturday, March 2nd the 2024 event season. Planned The meeting point is at 2.30 p.m. at the clubhouse “Auf der Zinn”. From there we will first take the bus to Lauterbach, which we will then leave after a short drive to the swimming pool/ice rink and start the “Bach Tour” on foot. In order to be well prepared for this part, weather-appropriate equipment and sturdy shoes are recommended. At around 4 p.m. there will be time for a short break with coffee and cake, for which a stop at the central station is planned.

The second part of the hike then takes us to the destination of the day, the picturesque Eisenbach Castle, the ancestral home of the Barons of Riedesel. At around 5 p.m. we will stop at the nearby “Burg Post” inn, where we will enjoy local cuisine.

a’la carte

with a variety of drinks and spend a comfortable, entertaining evening. We will then decide on the time of the bus return in consultation on site. The best conditions to make this part of the day a "complete success" again, and the board would like to see active participation.

Friends and guests are also very welcome. If participation on foot is not possible or is only possible later for other reasons, the destination can also be reached by mobile phone. In order to better plan the bus and locations, an approximately current number of participants is required. Therefore, we ask for

The Schlitz Automobile Club is holding an open day on Sunday, April 23rd. From 10 a.m., you can get a taste of the atmosphere that surrounds the club's motorsport-influenced life. But that's not all that's on the program that awaits visitors. Activities by the youth department with kart demonstrations on the closed section of the road "Auf der Zinn", as well as the legendary soapboxes will be back in action. The traffic safety association will be there with a reaction test and the so-called "alcohol glasses", which can realistically depict the influence of alcohol on behavior in traffic. Optician Heike Schaub will be on site and will offer all visitors an eye test. This should be of particular interest to young people who want to get a driver's license, who will have the opportunity to test their eyesight easily here. The Schlitzer Rennbahn Club will also be there with its slot car system and will provide exciting entertainment for young and old. There is also a lot to learn about the ACS and the ADAC, and information about a membership sponsored by them is currently available here. On a day like this, the treasures of the mobile past from several decades should not be forgotten. We will also be presenting vintage cars from our members from motorsport and everyday life on four and two wheels. We hope that all of this will contribute to an eventful Sunday and look forward to seeing lots of visitors.

Of course, your physical well-being is well taken care of with drinks, sausages, coffee and cake.

History

50 years ago - Flashed in the rearview mirror.

Even before the Schlitz Automobile Club was born, there was already a strong interest in motorsport in our region. There were well-known clubs in both the Vogelsberg and the Rhön that were very successful in motorsport in a variety of ways. As a result, it didn't take long before the local aspirants - who had previously been active outside the area - started cooking up their own soup in Schlitz. The experience gained in foreign countries was enough to revive motorsport in the Schlitzerland with the "Racing Team Schlitz" (RTS). From 1968 onwards, two "Schlitzerland rallies" were on the calendar each year - in spring and late summer. Including the year the ACS was founded in 1970, the RTS organisers had managed to lay the promising sporting foundations for the "new club" with six successful "Schlitzerland rallies".

Fifth place goosebumps at the FIA Games in Rome

Such a sporting highlight does not come along every day. Janina Burkard from AC Schlitz and her teammate Florian Vietze were part of the selection team of the German Motorsport Association (DMSB) at the Olympic Games of Motorsport in Rome, organized by the world association FIA.
