CLASSIC PUR - on tour with oldies
Since 1999, the ACS has also been represented internationally and nationally in historic automobile racing. A few former active members are bringing the “old days” of rallying back to life. The cars - and the drivers - are the same types as back then, just a little older. While the cars - with their historic license plates - are recognizable as vintage cars, this attribute does not necessarily apply to the crew. With starts at the 1000 Lakes Historic Rally in Finland, the Hisoric Vlatava Rally in the Czech Republic and the 500 Minuti Rally Historic in Italy, challenging best-time rallies of the FIA Historic European Championship were chosen as “taster courses” in the first two years. In the national scene, the Ries Rally, the ZF Sachs Franken Classic, the Metz Rally Classic, the Württemberg Historic, the Pfaffenwinkel Classic, the Bayerwald Rally Classic, the Intern. Rally Wiesbaden and in Austria the Intern. Alpenfahrt were among the selected events. The competition vehicles are a BMW 2002tii built in 1971 and a Porsche 911 built in 1976 - both owned by club member and co-driver Dieter Schaub - which take turns or sometimes compete in pairs. If something bigger and heavier is required, then Dietmar Bonin's vintage truck - a Mercedes Benz 329 built in 1961 - is ready for use, for example in the 2000 km Germany drive for historic commercial vehicles, as well as other events.
